How to become a pharmacy technician in Great Britain — the pathway

The Great Britain pathway runs: a GPhC-approved qualification — the Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians or the Pharmacy Technician (Integrated) Level 3 apprenticeship — taken alongside a minimum of two years’ work-based experience (UK/Isle of Man/Channel Islands) under the supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician to whom the trainee is directly accountable; then GPhC registration onto Part 2, conferring the protected title “pharmacy technician”; then annual revalidation (CPD, peer discussion, reflective account). The application window is within five years of starting, or two years of completing, a recognised course.
