Qualifying as a chiropractor in the UK — the GCC-recognised degree

The UK domestic route runs: GCC-recognised chiropractic degree → GCC registration → “chiropractor”. The qualification is an integrated Master’s, typically 4–5 years (MChiro / MSci) with clinical placements embedded; on graduating from a recognised UK qualification the candidate applies to the GCC register (the protected title is illegal without it), then maintains annual registration and fee, professional indemnity cover and the CPD scheme. European Council on Chiropractic Education (ECCE) accreditation is typically held alongside GCC recognition. There were six GCC-recognised UK education providers in 2026: Health Sciences University (formerly AECC University College, Bournemouth); University of South Wales (Welsh Institute of Chiropractic); McTimoney College of Chiropractic; Teesside University; London South Bank University; and Coventry University — the newest, recognised following the Privy Council order of 16 January 2025 (Foundation Year recruited Sep 2025, Year One of the MChiro from Sep 2026).
