The General Optical Council (GOC) regulates UK eye care. It registers two distinct professions — optometrists and dispensing opticians — as well as student opticians and optical businesses. A registrant’s status is checkable on the GOC register. The whole optometry training model is mid-reform (see the MOptom entry).
