Overseas-trained professionals join the HCPC register via the international application route: they map their qualifications, experience and training against the HCPC Standards of Proficiency, and evidence English-language proficiency (self-declaring English as a first language is no longer accepted). From November 2025, applicants must use a mandatory standards-of-proficiency mapping document. Since January 2021 all overseas-trained applicants (including from the EU) use this route.
