GOsC Registration Assessment — the overseas / non-RQ route

An applicant without a GOsC Recognised Qualification (trained outside the UK, or holding a UK qualification that is not an RQ) does not auto-register. They go through the GOsC Registration Assessment, which tests equivalence to the Osteopathic Practice Standards. The published route runs: Step 1 — Assessment of the non-UK qualification (documents reviewed by two registration assessors, fee 🔶 £690); Step 2 — Further Evidence of Practice (questionnaire plus case histories, fee 🔶 £690); Step 3 — Assessment of Clinical Performance (ACP), a practical exam in the UK with real patients in a clinic setting (fee 🔶 £910); then a registration application (forms, health and character references, criminal-record check, entry fee). There is no published exhaustive “approved overseas qualification” list — equivalence is assessed case-by-case (successful applicants have come from e.g. Australia, France, Poland, Malta and Italy). A special pathway exists for New Zealand-trained osteopaths holding current OCNZ registration. The honest message: the UK is an equivalence-assessment plus a UK clinical exam, not an automatic transfer — and the fees are dated and change, so verify them live before publishing. 🔶
