The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registers nurses, midwives and nursing associates in the UK. Registration is to a specific part of the register: Registered Nurse (in one of four fields — Adult, Children’s, Mental Health, Learning Disabilities), Midwife, Nursing Associate, or SCPHN (Specialist Community Public Health Nurse). Each registrant holds a PIN whose status is checkable on the NMC’s online register.
