The Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) is awarded when a doctor completes a GMC-approved run-through or higher specialty training programme. It is the basis for entry to the GMC Specialist Register or GP Register, which is required for substantive consultant or GP appointments. Specialty training itself is either run-through (ST1 through to CCT) or uncoupled (core training, such as Internal Medicine Training, followed by competitive higher specialty training).
