The General Chiropractic Council (GCC) is the UK-wide statutory regulator of chiropractors, established under the Chiropractors Act 1994. It keeps a single national register of chiropractors; student chiropractors are not registered (the GCC sets standards for the recognised degree, not a student register). The public GCC online register is the check surface — single register, single title, simpler than dentistry’s DCP split or optometry’s two-profession model. Through Fitness to Practise (FtP) proceedings the GCC investigates concerns and can remove a chiropractor from the register if they are found unfit to practise.
