Chiropractic across borders — US, Australia and Canada cross-walk
A UK MChiro is not automatically licensable abroad, and an overseas chiropractor is not automatically registrable in the UK — each country is its own examined route. The US uses the NBCE Parts I–IV plus state licensure, Australia the Chiropractic Board of Australia (AHPRA), and Canada the CCEB Components A/B/C plus provincial licence.

Chiropractic is a statutorily regulated clinical profession, not a complementary-therapy loophole. "Chiropractor" is a protected title under the Chiropractors Act 1994, and it is a criminal offence to use it without registration with the General Chiropractic Council.
✔ Verified by VeriferaRegisterGeneral Chiropractic Council (GCC)
The UK-wide statutory regulator of chiropractors, established under the Chiropractors Act 1994. It keeps a single national register of chiropractors (students are not registered), sets the recognised-degree standards, and can remove a chiropractor from the register through fitness-to-practise proceedings.
✔ Verified by VeriferaCredentialOverseas chiropractor → UK register: the GCC Test of Competence
A chiropractor qualified outside the UK must pass the GCC Test of Competence (TOC) before applying to register. The TOC runs on four dates a year (typically January, March, June, September), and if you pass but delay registration beyond two years you must first complete the Return to Practice in the UK programme — a trap most stale articles miss.

The UK domestic route is a GCC-recognised integrated Master's degree (typically 4–5 years, MChiro/MSci, with clinical placements embedded), followed by application to the GCC register. Six UK providers are recognised in 2026 — Coventry the newest, with MChiro Year One from Sep 2026 — but the list is actively growing, so re-check the GCC page before asserting it.
