Do you enjoy working across the stack, from a Python service to the interface a customer actually clicks on? Smart Communications is strengthening the Workspace team, and we're looking for an engineer who's just as comfortable in the back end as in the browser.

You consider yourself an Engineer, but your real skill is learning — you quickly and enthusiastically pick up new technologies, libraries, tools, techniques, and domain knowledge to deliver the right solution.
You understand principles of good code structure and write clean, maintainable code, and you can spot and fix technical debt in the classes and methods you touch.
You understand and implement an appropriate level of automated testing for your work, and you're aware of the security and performance considerations typical of the areas you work in.
You're comfortable discussing requirements with the product management team, throwing your own ideas into the mix and constructively engaging to iterate on requirements.
You like working in an Agile environment and taking responsibility for getting things done as part of a team.

The responsibilities of the role include:

Design, build and maintain features across the Workspace product, both front-end and back-end
Create and maintain appropriate automated tests alongside all product changes
Take shared responsibility for the output of your team
Participate in the agile process including stand-ups, planning, demos and retrospectives
Contribute to institutional knowledge by documenting solutions and standard approaches in the team wiki and knowledgebase

What we're looking for:

Must have skills/experience:

Python
Front-end development skills (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or a modern framework such as React)
Unit testing experience (Playwright)
Teamwork
Fast learner

This role is remote with occasional visits to the office as required.
