Software Engineer – DICOM / Python | Oxford

Do you have hands‑on experience working with DICOM ?

Would you like to use that expertise in a Software Engineer role where you can take ownership of

technically interesting projects?

Looking for a growing team where you can develop your skills across Python, AWS, full‑stack development and cloud technologies ?

We’re recruiting a Software Engineer with DICOM experience for our client, an innovative technology business based in Oxford .

This is a great opportunity for someone with around 1–3 years’ software engineering experience who has worked with DICOM and wants to build on that specialist knowledge while developing a broader engineering skillset.

Why This Role is Great

You’ll get the opportunity to:

• Work extensively with DICOM and specialist data systems , using your existing knowledge to solve real technical challenges.
• Develop and maintain sophisticated cloud‑based software using Python and modern engineering practices.
• Take ownership of technical problems and specific areas of development as your experience grows.
• Work across the full stack , giving you exposure beyond a narrowly defined development role.
• Build your knowledge of AWS, Linux, databases, CI/CD and test automation .
• Collaborate with engineering colleagues, technical specialists and end users to turn requirements into practical solutions.
• Contribute to code reviews and improvements in software quality, reliability and maintainability.
• Gain valuable experience developing software in a quality‑focused environment where robust engineering really matters.

What We’re Looking For

DICOM or similar experience is the key requirement for this position.

Alongside this, our client’s wishlist includes:

• Around 1–3 years’ commercial software engineering experience .
• Strong programming skills in Python or a comparable language.
• A good understanding of software engineering principles and practices.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• A relevant technical degree or equivalent practical experience.

Experience with FHIR, HL7, AWS, Linux, backend databases, CI/CD, TDD or BDD would be a bonus rather than a reason not to apply.

Exposure to regulated, highly controlled or quality‑focused software environments would also be useful.

You certainly don’t need every skill listed. If you have solid software engineering fundamentals and genuine hands‑on DICOM experience, we’d particularly like to hear from you.

What’s On Offer?

• Enhanced pension contribution
• Private medical insurance
• Life insurance
• Additional long‑service benefits
• Excellent opportunity for technical and professional development

Ready for Your Next Move?

We and our client are committed to building inclusive workplaces and welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds and experiences. If you have strong transferable skills but don’t match every item on the wishlist, we still encourage you to apply.
