Senior 3rd Line Engineer - IT Solutions

• An established IT Solutions Provider is seeking a Senior 3rd Line Engineer to play a key role in delivering advanced infrastructure support and project delivery across a diverse client base.
• This role combines senior level technical escalation, infrastructure project ownership, and client facing solution delivery. You will work across complex environments supporting servers, virtualisation, networking, cloud platforms, and security technologies.
• You will act as a technical leader within the engineering team while helping clients modernise and strengthen their IT environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide expert level 3rd line support across server infrastructure, networking, cloud platforms, and security systems.
• Act as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues.
• Lead infrastructure projects including server migrations, virtualisation deployments, Azure implementations, and network upgrades.
• Design and deliver tailored IT solutions based on client needs.
• Manage and support virtualised environments using Hyper V or VMware.
• Support and maintain Microsoft Azure environments including virtual machines, identity, and storage.
• Implement backup and disaster recovery solutions.
• Maintain secure and resilient infrastructure across on premises and cloud environments.
• Configure and manage firewalls and core networking technologies.
• Work directly with clients to understand requirements and guide technical implementations.
• Maintain documentation and provide recommendations for improvement.
• Mentor junior engineers and support technical development within the team.
• Support security best practice through implementation of endpoint protection and infrastructure hardening.

Technical Skills and Experience:

• Strong experience with Windows Server environments.
• Advanced knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
• Hands on experience with Hyper V or VMware.
• Experience working with Microsoft Azure including virtual machines, identity, and storage.
• Backup and disaster recovery solutions such as Veeam, Cove, or Acronis.
• Strong networking fundamentals including VLANs, subnetting, TCP IP, and VPNs.
• Firewall experience with Fortinet, WatchGuard, Palo Alto, or similar platforms.
• Experience with storage solutions such as Dell or Synology.
• Knowledge of endpoint security tools such as Microsoft Defender or Sophos.
• Experience delivering infrastructure projects including migrations and upgrades.
• Background
• Experience working within a Managed Service Provider or IT Solutions environment is highly desirable.

Package and Benefits

• Salary £50,000 to £60,000.
