You will join a busy colorectal team to deliver high-quality elective and emergency colorectal surgery while expanding sub-specialty services. The role integrates clinical care with teaching, research, and audit within a multidisciplinary setting. You will contribute to service reconfiguration and regional collaborations, including mentorship and training opportunities. Responsibilities
Provide high-quality elective and emergency colorectal surgical care for the region
Develop and expand sub-specialty colorectal services within a multidisciplinary team
Communicate effectively with hospital and community teams
Contribute to efficient operation of elective and acute care and participate in national audits (e.g., NELA, NBOCAP, IMPACT)
Engage in research activities within the Newcastle Centre for Bowel Diseases
Lead and support teaching and training of medical students and doctors in training
Lead and develop educational courses via the Newcastle Surgical Training Centre (NSTC)
Support flexible service provision including potential evening/weekend work as required
Key requirements
Full GMC Registration
Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register within 6 months of AAC date
