Overview

Join Wheely's Marketplace team as a Mid/Senior Backend Engineer to help balance supply and demand and optimize pricing and matching for a premium, globally expanding transport platform. You will build and migrate microservices in Go, shaping scalable systems that keep chauffeurs busy and passengers wait-free. Work closely with product, design, and data science to translate requirements into robust designs and fast, reliable services. This role sits at the intersection of technology and growth, offering impact across US and EMEA expansion and a modern, cloud-native stack. Responsibilities

• Write high-quality, performant code primarily in Go
• Implement new microservices while helping migrate away from legacy services
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and data scientists to turn requirements into technical designs
• Ensure systems stay responsive under heavy load, optimizing for latency and reliability

Key requirements

• 3+ years building scalable backend services (5+ years for seniors)
• Go proficiency or strongest language with Go interview; strong engineering fundamentals
• Relational and NoSQL databases knowledge (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis)
• Experience with message brokers (RabbitMQ or Kafka)
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher
• Comfort debating technical trade-offs with peers
