Contentious Construction (5-8+ years PQE)

Overview

In this Senior Associate role, you will lead high-profile construction disputes within a top firm’s Exeter team. You’ll handle complex claims across payment, delays, defects, and professional negligence, guiding adjudication, litigation, arbitration and other ADR. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams and contribute to large-scale projects and policy initiatives. This is a pivotal role offering direct client exposure, autonomous matter management, and strong collaboration in a supportive, prestige firm environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead construction-related disputes and manage complex litigation across payment, delays, defects, and professional negligence
• Oversee adjudication, arbitration, mediation and other ADR processes
• Manage contract-related issues and dispute avoidance (JCT and NEC contracts)
• Collaborate across departments on high-profile cases and reportable matters
• Engage with a broad client base, providing strategic advice and client-facing service
• Drive business development opportunities and contribute to firm growth
• Deliver top-quality work and mentorship within a tight-knit team

Key requirements

• 5-8+ years PQE in construction disputes
• Confident litigator with demonstrable leadership in disputes
• Strong technical understanding of JCT and NEC contracts and adjudications
• Experience with ADR processes and dispute resolution
• Ability to handle high-profile, multi-faceted cases and liaise with diverse clients
