Senior Onboarding Officer, Belfast (Exclusive)

Overview

In this role you will oversee AML/KYC onboarding processes within a demanding, international law firm. You will lead risk assessments, provide guidance to colleagues, and supervise junior team members in Client Onboarding. You will handle complex global structures and high‑risk cases while coordinating with Partners and fee earners. You will also support training and escalate issues to the onboarding management chain. This is a chance to shape compliant client acceptance in a fast-paced, global environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct AML screening and risk assessments (and conflicts screening post-training) at a high-quality level
• Act as go-to person for onboarding queries across the business, supporting Quality Control and development of junior staff
• Engage with complex global structures and higher-risk cases
• Manage stakeholder needs and service-level issues at Partner and fee-earner level
• Deliver or support internal training sessions when needed
• Escalate relevant team management issues to Client Onboarding Manager(s)

Key requirements

• Strong regulatory knowledge in AML/CFT/ABC, ideally with international experience
• 5–6 years’ experience or more in AML/KYC, including conflicts of interest checks
• Experience in screening and risk assessing global company structures
• Ability to use applicable tools and software for checks
• Comfort operating in a fast-paced, international environment with nuanced local frameworks
• Experience in a comparable commercial services firm or large law firm in an AML compliance role
• Law or relevant discipline qualification is desirable, with flexibility on blend of transferable skills
