Overview

As part of AECOM’s Transmission & Distribution team, you will help shape grid-scale power infrastructure and drive the energy transition. You’ll work on high-impact projects from concept to energisation, collaborating with cross-functional teams and clients to modernise the UK’s energy network. You’ll apply engineering design expertise to complex, large-scale systems and leverage innovative tools to improve delivery. Responsibilities

• Contribute to design and consultancy on HV transmission and distribution projects
• Support grid modernisation initiatives and project delivery from concept through energisation
• Engage with clients, stakeholders, and subcontractors to discuss technical issues and capture feedback
• Apply standards (BS/Eurocodes) in design work and ensure alignment with project requirements
• Participate in cross-disciplinary engineering activities (e.g., substation design, protection systems, SCADA, HVDC)
• Support large-scale initiatives and frameworks like National Grid upgrades and EirGrid projects

Key requirements

• Electrical/electronic/power engineering qualification (HNC/HND/BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng)
• Demonstrable electrical engineering design consultancy experience on transmission and distribution projects
• Working knowledge of BS and/or Eurocodes for relevant engineering design standards
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to engage with clients and stakeholders
