Overview

In this role, you will contribute to the design and delivery of transmission and distribution projects that underpin UK grid modernisation and the energy transition. You will work within the T&D Engineering team across concepts through energisation, applying your electrical design expertise to complex, large-scale infrastructure. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and adapt to innovative tools to drive efficient, safe, and high-impact outcomes. This position offers the chance to work on flagship programmes like Great Grid Upgrade / Partnership and with hyperscalers and data centre operators, shaping the future of energy networks.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to T&D projects from concept to energisation
• Engage in HV power systems analysis, cabling, substations, HVDC, and interconnectors
• Support protection systems, SCADA, and converter station design activities
• Collaborate with clients, colleagues, and subcontractors to capture and discuss technical feedback
• Support grid modernisation initiatives and energy transition programmes
• Apply BS/Eurocodes design standards in projects
• Leverage automation tools to improve project efficiency
• Contribute to major infrastructure projects in the UK energy sector

Key requirements

• Electrical/electronic/power engineering qualification (HNC/HND/BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng)
• Demonstrable electrical engineering design consultancy experience in transmission and distribution
• Working knowledge of BS and/or Eurocodes for relevant design standards
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with client-facing experience
