Overview

As Director, Associate General Counsel in Workday’s Global Legal Services, you lead an international team of contract negotiators and drive scalable, efficient deal support across EMEA and APAC/Japan. You will shape contracting models, enable rapid, high-stakes negotiations, and partner with Sales and Legal leadership to align business needs with compliant, innovative solutions. This role blends strategic change leadership with expert drafting and negotiation to support a Fortune 500 cloud software provider. You’ll influence senior stakeholders and champion adoption of streamlined processes and AI-enabled CLM solutions.

Responsibilities

Lead technology transactions by negotiating subscription, data processing, and services agreements
Provide proactive strategic guidance on business and legal risks to internal teams
Transform contracting models and workflows for efficiency and scale
Collaborate with Legal and Business Technology to implement process and technology solutions
Drive change leadership, communicating rationale and building coalitions for new processes
Serve as senior partner to Sales and Legal leadership in high-stakes discussions
Design end-to-end contracting processes with adoption-focused change management
Leverage AI and automation tools to simplify and scale contracting

Key requirements

European law degree or relevant professional legal qualification (unknown)
10+ years negotiating contracts in law firm or in-house/public sector
proven leadership experience with a people-first style
experience transforming contracting models, workflows, and processes for efficiency and scale
experience leading organizational change with senior leaders in Sales and Legal
