Senior Civil Design Engineer (Highways)

Overview

Senior Civil Engineer with consultancy experience in general infrastructure, focusing on S278/38 processes, design management and stakeholder coordination. You will deliver detailed designs, feasibility studies and scheme reports while leading project elements such as budgeting, costings and customer relations. You’ll ensure compliance with CDM, health and safety and environmental considerations within a collaborative, growth-oriented transport engineering team. This role offers global exposure within a sustainability-driven consultancy and opportunities to shape major infrastructure schemes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed design, feasibility studies and scheme reports for infrastructure projects
• Take on project management tasks including budgeting, bill of quantities and costings
• Ensure designs comply with specifications and programme
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and CDM requirements
• Assess and mitigate environmental impacts of designs
• Manage relationships with clients, stakeholders and third parties
• Coordinate with design team members and integrate inputs
• Support junior team members on projects

Key requirements

• Consultancy experience in design and management of Section 278/38 processes
• Knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and Manual for Streets
• Ability to negotiate effectively with clients, stakeholders, subcontractors and third parties
• Detailed understanding of Health & Safety legislation
• Competent in using Civils 3D
