Senior Civil Engineer - Water

Overview

As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will lead design and delivery across major water and wastewater schemes, from feasibility to construction. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to produce safe, compliant solutions and support client relationships. The role blends technical leadership with process improvement, including sustainable and digital approaches, within a partner-led AMP8 framework. You will influence buildability, drive efficiency, and mentor engineers to grow the team’s capability. This is a mission-driven opportunity to enhance water infrastructure at scale.

Responsibilities

• Provide design support and ensure compliance with current legislation and standards
• Collaborate with commercial, operations and construction teams to develop efficient, safe solutions across project stages
• Engage with clients, manage relationships, and promote a team-oriented approach
• Integrate civil design with other disciplines and produce necessary documentation
• Act as a technical checker and perform cross-team technical reviews
• Identify opportunities to improve delivery processes, including sustainable solutions and digital tools
• Conduct site reviews to verify buildability and integration with existing systems
• Coach and mentor engineers to develop skills and ensure appropriate project resourcing

Key requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• Chartership (CEng) with a relevant Engineering Institution
• Experience delivering high-quality outputs in line with design, quality, and safety standards
• Effective communication with team members and stakeholders
• Methodical problem-solving approach
• Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites within the operational region
