A UK-regulated bank is looking for a hands-on Platform Engineer to keep its core banking estate running smoothly, day and night. You'll own the stability and performance of Oracle FLEXCUBE , alongside Oracle ERP, Oracle FCCM, Finastra OPICS and Suade regulatory reporting. You'll make sure every end-of-day (EOD) batch completes on time.
What you'll be doing
FLEXCUBE & EOD Operations
Own daily EOD and overnight batch execution, and step in quickly when a batch fails
Investigate and resolve batch failures, performance issues and reconciliation exceptions
Monitor application health, support deployments and upgrades, and work with Oracle Support and third-party vendors
Platform Administration
Administer Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Oracle Linux and IBM AIX servers: accounts, permissions, scheduled jobs, patching
Write and maintain Bash/Korn shell scripts to automate operational and batch tasks
Database & Middleware
First and second-line support for the Oracle databases behind FLEXCUBE, ERP and FCCM: performance, storage, backups, replication and DR
First and second-line support for the SQL Server databases behind OPICS
Support Oracle WebLogic: deployments, troubleshooting and certificate management
Resolve incidents within SLA, find the root cause and put permanent fixes in place
Carry out approved changes and keep runbooks and support guides up to date
Take part in DR exercises, backup validation and internal and external audits
What you'll bring
3+ years supporting Oracle FLEXCUBE (or a similar core banking platform) in a bank, including EOD/overnight batch operations (essential)
Hands-on Linux (RHEL) and/or AIX administration
Oracle Database and SQL Server support experience: monitoring, backups, troubleshooting
Oracle WebLogic administration
SQL, PL/SQL and shell scripting
Calm under pressure during live incidents and overnight processing windows
Nice to have: OCP, WebLogic certification, RHCSA/RHCE, ITIL
Why apply?
A rare chance to own the core banking platform at a UK bank: varied, hands-on and business-critical work in a close-knit infrastructure team.
