Managing Quantity Surveyor

VolkerStevin is recruiting a Managing Quantity Surveyor for a permanent position in Farringdon, London. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the successful applicant will lead commercial and contractual work on several projects and direct the commercial team. Visits to the assigned projects are required, with flexible working arrangements available.

The role begins with reviewing tender risks and subcontract packages, then preparing procurement schedules and establishing the first profit-and-loss forecast. During delivery, the manager will oversee subcontract administration, support the resolution of disputes and maintain contact with the client on changes affecting delivery. Monthly client reporting includes cash-flow and final-account forecasts.

The post also monitors team resources and tracks warranties, guarantees and bonds. After construction, responsibilities include completing contract reviews, settling subcontracts and obtaining signed final accounts. The manager must pursue retention payments and retain responsibility until the defects certificate is issued.

Applicants need a quantity-surveying degree, relevant experience and knowledge of NEC contracts. Leadership and communication skills are requested. The employer describes a route from this position towards Commercial Manager responsibilities.
