Java Software Engineer

We’re working with a leading technology business within the iGaming, sports betting and lottery space, looking for a Senior Java Engineer to join their Sports engineering team.

This is a great opportunity for a strong hands‑on Java developer who enjoys mentoring others, taking technical ownership and helping drive engineering standards, without necessarily wanting to step away from the code.

What you’ll be doing:

• Developing and delivering high-quality backend software
• Working closely with Product and Engineering teams across the SDLC
• Mentoring and supporting other engineers
• Championing engineering best practices and continuous improvement
• Taking ownership of technical delivery and helping remove blockers
• Contributing to a collaborative, high-performing engineering culture

What we’re looking for:

• Strong commercial experience with Java & Spring Boot
• Experience with technologies such as AWS, Kafka, Docker and Kubernetes
• Solid backend/software engineering fundamentals
• Experience mentoring, coaching or supporting less experienced developers
• Someone who remains hands‑on and technically strong
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• You don’t need to have held a formal Lead title — Senior Developers who have naturally taken on mentoring, technical ownership or informal leadership responsibilities are encouraged to apply.

• Up to £78k + bonus
