Project Engineer

At Highland Spring Group, we're looking for a Project Engineer to join our Engineering team and take ownership of a varied portfolio of engineering, CAPEX and improvement projects.

This is a hands-on project delivery role where you'll manage engineering projects from initial concept and scope development right through to installation, commissioning and handover. You'll work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing and other teams across the business to turn opportunities into practical, sustainable solutions.

The role

You'll have real accountability for delivering projects safely, effectively and to plan - balancing technical requirements with cost, quality, timescale and operational priorities.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading CAPEX projects from concept through to completion
• Developing project scopes, plans, programmes, budgets and resource requirements
• Supporting the development and justification of capital investment proposals
• Managing design, procurement, installation, commissioning and effective handover
• Controlling project expenditure, forecasts, risks, issues and changes
• Coordinating suppliers and contractors, from quotation and technical specification through to site delivery
• Working closely with Manufacturing and Engineering teams to develop practical, maintainable solutions while minimising operational disruption
• Planning and coordinating shutdowns, overhauls and other engineering activity
• Providing clear project updates and influencing cross-functional project teams
• Driving continuous improvement and ensuring new assets are successfully transitioned into operational and maintenance ownership.

About you

We're looking for someone who combines strong engineering and project delivery capability with a genuine sense of ownership.

You'll be organised, comfortable managing competing priorities and able to drive activity through to completion. Just as importantly, you'll be able to build effective relationships across different functions, constructively challenge where required and bring people with you when delivering change.

You'll have a continuous improvement mindset, strong problem-solving skills and the confidence to influence stakeholders at different levels of the organisation.

What makes this opportunity different?

This isn't simply about administering engineering projects. You'll have the opportunity to own projects through their full lifecycle, influence how solutions are developed and help strengthen engineering standards and ways of working across the business.

If you're an engineer who enjoys taking an idea, turning it into a robust solution and seeing it successfully delivered on the ground, we'd love to hear from you.
