Parker Meggitt occupies a leading position in the design and manufacture of aircraft engine shell-and-tube and plate-and-fin heat exchangers. We are a significant supplier to both civil and military aviation, with products used on the majority of the latest aeroengines, including LEAP, PurePower and F135.

Position Overview

Responsible for the design, development, and qualification of Thermal Management Systems products for aerospace applications, supporting programmes from initial concept through production implementation. The role has a strong focus on the design of aerospace heat exchangers and associated mechanical components, requiring application of sound mechanical engineering principles and aerospace design practices to deliver innovative, reliable, and complaint solutions that meet customer specifications and airworthiness requirements.

Working in the Design Engineering team, this role will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders leading new product development and continuous improvement initiatives. The role involves translating requirements into robust design solutions, ensuring performance, quality, and manufacturability objectives are achieved.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design and development of aerospace thermal managements products, including heat exchangers and mechanical components, from concept through full product lifecycle, including production implementation.
Interpret customer specifications and airworthiness requirements to define design parameters, ensuring compliance with performance, safety, and regulatory standards.
Develop detailed product specifications by analysing functional requirements, materials, performance, cost, manufacturability, and operational efficiency.
Create and maintain design data including engineering drawings, 3D CAD models, and bill of materials in accordance with established engineering standards.
Validate and verify design performance through analysis, testing, and interpretation of results, ensuring conformance to qualification requirements and reliability targets.
Evaluate and disposition non-conforming product in accordance with quality and engineering standards, defining and implementing appropriate corrective actions.

Essential skills and experience you’ll need to be considered for this position

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical discipline
3-5 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in aerospace or related (regulated) industries
Strong experience in the use of commercial CAD software systems
Solid understanding of engineering principles, product design, and industry standards, with the ability to apply knowledge across technical disciplines
Knowledge of GD&T principles for component design and assembly
Knowledge of manufacturing processes including, but not limited to, forging, casting, CNC machining, welding, brazing and sheet metal forming
Strong analytical, problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset with experience applying engineering best practices and process improvements
Effective communication skills, with the ability to present technical information and collaborate with cross-functions teams, customers, and suppliers
