Field Sales Engineer – Midlands

An established manufacturer of precision measurement and metrology equipment is looking to recruit a Field Sales Engineer to cover the Midlands.

Following a review of the position, the focus is now on finding someone with a strong technical or engineering background who has the personality and commercial drive to develop within field sales.

Experience within metrology, dimensional measurement or precision engineering would be particularly relevant, although candidates from closely related technical engineering environments will also be considered.

Previous sales experience would be advantageous, but this could equally suit a technically strong engineer looking to move into a more commercial, customer-facing career.

The Role

• Approximately 65% account management / 35% new business
• Managing and developing existing customer accounts
• Identifying and winning new business across the Midlands
• Understanding customer applications and technical requirements
• Helping customers identify appropriate measurement solutions
• Regular face-to-face customer visits throughout the territory
• Working from the Milton Keynes office when not on the road
• Ongoing product, technical and commercial development

The Person

• Strong technical or engineering background
• Ideally experience within metrology, dimensional measurement, precision engineering or a related technical field
• Comfortable discussing technical requirements with engineering and manufacturing customers
• Commercially minded with strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Proactive, self-motivated and comfortable working independently
• Interested in developing existing accounts and generating new business
• Keen to develop a long-term career within technical field sales
• Previous sales experience advantageous but not essential
• Full UK driving licence
• Must be a UK national due to security requirements at certain customer sites

Training & Development

Extensive training and ongoing development will be provided, including:

• Direct mentorship from the UK Sales Manager
• Product and applications training
• Training and support from Germany
• Opportunities to complete internationally recognised AUKOM metrology training
• Ongoing sales and commercial development

Package

• Basic salary up to £50,000 depending on experience
• Annual company bonus scheme
• Fully expensed company car – VW Golf or similar
• Company laptop and mobile phone

• Pension

The position covers the Midlands and would ideally suit someone based within reasonable travelling distance of Milton Keynes.
