Senior Quality Assurance Engineer

£62,000 | Hybrid / 2 Day's a Week in Birmingham

Want your next role to contribute to something beyond another software release?

I’m working with an organisation in the clean energy sector whose work supports the UK’s transition towards net zero. They’re looking for a Senior QA Engineer to help make sure the software behind that work is reliable, resilient and properly tested.

You’ll take ownership of QA within a development team, combining hands-on automation with the opportunity to influence how testing is done. There’s also a mentoring element, making this a good fit for someone who enjoys supporting other engineers alongside their own technical work.

What you’ll be doing:

• Building and improving automated test coverage, working alongside an experienced QA team.
• Getting involved early in development to identify risks and shape the testing approach.
• Bringing automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to support reliable releases.
• Investigating defects and working closely with developers to resolve the underlying issues.
• Contributing to performance, security and accessibility testing.
• Supporting other QA Engineers and improving testing practices across the team.

What you’ll bring:

• A strong background in software testing, with hands-on automation experience.
• Experience using Playwright & Selenium or similar tools.
• An understanding of CI/CD and how testing fits into the development process.
• Experience mentoring colleagues and taking responsibility for quality within a team.

Experience with performance testing tools, security testing or accessibility would also be useful.

Why consider it?

It’s a chance to apply your QA experience to work supporting cleaner energy, while having real input into testing standards and day-to-day engineering practices.

Alongside the salary, the benefits package includes a performance-related bonus, pension contributions, 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, and support for professional development.
