We are looking for an experienced Counselling/Clinical Psychologist/Psychological Therapist to join our Trust-wide Specialist Eating Disorders Services (CEDS) for Adults. This post will be based at least part of the working week in North Devon (Barnstaple) and also at our central team base in Exeter so the post holder will need to be prepared to travel and be flexible to meet these requirements. The successful candidate will work as a senior member of the clinical team to support effective care for clients often with complex eating disordered presentations.
CEDS is a fully integrated multi-disciplinary team which includes medical staff, senior mental health professionals, psychological therapists, practitioner psychologists, assistant psychologists and dietitians. It is a caring and supportive team with regular MDT meetings, reflective practice and service development team days. Our vision is to provide the best treatment possible for those with eating disorders through the provision of treatments recommended by NICE, and by working together across inpatient, outreach and community services to provide the most appropriate care.
As a senior member of the clinical team the post holder will be involved in all aspects of assuring the delivery of the psychological therapies provision: we would particularly welcome someone with previous training and experience in CBT-E or MANTRA but there are opportunities for funded therapy training available for the right candidate.
Prior experience in working with people with severe and complex eating disorders would be highly desirable and a strong commitment to increasing access to evidence based psychological interventions.
The candidate will have a degree in psychology and doctoral level training in applied psychology (or its equivalent for those who trained before 1996 or outside the UK) as approved by the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) or will be a senior experienced psychological therapist with appropriate accreditation with a relevant professional body e.g. HCPC, BABCP, UKCP. We not only recruit based on qualifications & experience - we recruit individuals who possess & demonstrate the behaviours which underpin our Trusts core values. These include such attributes as showing a commitment to quality of care, improving lives of others, giving respect, dignity & compassion. We can bring those values to life in our everyday tasks by giving a smile; making time for people; challenging ourselves & others, & being open to new ideas.
We are committed to being an inclusive employer & applications are encouraged & welcomed from all sections of the community, regardless of any protected characteristics as governed by the Equality Act 2010. Part time & flexible working applications will be considered & supported, where possible. We particularly encourage applicants with lived experience of mental health conditions, neurodiversity or learning disabilities. We are a Disability Confident Leader.
We provide mental health, learning disability and neurodiversity services, as well as a range of specialist & secure services for the wider south west region & nationally. We are passionate about promoting good mental health & wellbeing. We strive to use the expertise & resources within our organisation, and through our partnerships, to deliver high quality services that are safe & focused on people's recovery.
We are committed to developing a culture of coproduction, involving patients, families & carers in everything we do.
