Due to strong growth, we are currently recruiting for Service Engineers who will play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of power generation systems, on a project in Newport, South Wales.
Responsibilities
The watchkeeping team as a whole is accountable for the following.
Continuous monitoring of the UPS installation, the standby generators, the transformer and the associated systems.
Attendance at and response to alarms, faults and operational events, at any hour.
Routine inspections and condition reporting on all equipment in scope.
Coordination with the client and other project stakeholders as required.
Maintenance of site records and shift handover documentation.
Escalation and reporting of critical issues in accordance with the agreed site procedures.
Working safely under the site permit-to-work, lockout/tagout and isolation regimes at all times, and stopping work where it is not safe to continue.
Qualifications & Experience
Relevant engineering qualification (Mechanical, Electrical, Electromechanical, Power Generation or similar).
Previous experience operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, or commissioning power generation equipment such as diesel generators, gas engines, gas turbines, reciprocating engines, or temporary power generation assets.
Practical knowledge of Balance of Plant (BoP) equipment including switchgear, transformers, fuel systems, cooling systems, pumps, compressors, and auxiliary plant equipment.
Experience working with electrical and mechanical systems and interpreting technical manuals, drawings, schematics, P&ID's , SLD's and OEM documentation.
Knowledge of safe systems of work
Familiarity with control systems, SCADA, PLCs, or plant monitoring systems would be advantageous.
Ability to work independently and as part of a rotating shift team in a fast-paced operational environment.
