The Role

The successful candidate will teach Food & Nutrition across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering high-quality lessons that inspire curiosity, creativity and a love of learning. There may also be opportunities to teach post-16 students for candidates with suitable experience.

You will join a well-resourced department with dedicated teaching facilities and strong technical support, working within a collaborative team committed to delivering outstanding outcomes for students.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging practical and theory-based Food & Nutrition lessons.
• Teach GCSE Food Preparation & Nutrition and support coursework and assessment requirements where appropriate.
• Create an inclusive, positive and well-managed classroom environment.
• Ensure the safe delivery of practical lessons, including food hygiene and allergen awareness.
• Assess, monitor and report on student progress.
• Contribute to curriculum development and departmental planning.
• Support students' academic progress, wellbeing and personal development.
• Participate in wider school life, including enrichment activities, trips, clubs and events.
• Build positive relationships with students, colleagues and parents.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a candidate who can demonstrate:

• A degree or relevant qualification in Food, Nutrition or a related subject.
• Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for Food & Nutrition.
• The ability to deliver engaging lessons to students of varying abilities.
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
• A collaborative and proactive approach to teaching and learning.
• A commitment to safeguarding, student wellbeing and professional development.

Desirable Experience

• Experience teaching GCSE Food Preparation & Nutrition.
• Knowledge of coursework/non-exam assessment requirements.
• Experience leading or contributing to enrichment activities related to food, nutrition or healthy living.
