Temporary Commercial Waste Account Manager

Location: Cambridgeshire (office based)
Contract: Temporary

The role

We are recruiting an experienced Commercial Waste Account Manager on a temporary basis for a busy trade waste service. You will grow the customer base and look after existing accounts, making sure local businesses get a reliable service and meet the right environmental standards.

We need someone who can hit the ground running. You will take on a live portfolio straight away, so previous experience is essential.

What you will be doing

• Planning and carrying out targeted sales activity, including calls, emails and client visits
• Finding, qualifying and following up new business leads, writing proposals and negotiating prices to close sales
• Building strong relationships with existing customers and acting as their main contact for queries, complaints and escalations
• Carrying out on-site waste audits and service checks, and giving clear written and verbal feedback to clients
• Keeping customer records accurate and up to date on the customer management system
• Working closely with colleagues on service updates, invoicing issues and day-to-day operations
• Reporting regularly on sales figures, pipeline and KPIs

About you

You will be sales driven, with a methodical approach and a good eye for detail. You will use your initiative, stay motivated without needing close supervision, and communicate clearly with customers and colleagues at every level.

Essential experience

• Proven business-to-business sales experience, including cold calling, finding new clients and closing deals
• Account management experience
• Waste industry experience (waste sales experience is ideal, though strong B2B sales experience from another sector will be considered)
• Good problem-solving skills, with a determined approach to sorting out customer issues
• Strong negotiation skills and confidence with pricing, numbers and reporting
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft packages and customer management systems
• A full driving licence and your own vehicle, as the role involves site visits
• Willingness to work outside normal office hours on occasion

Desirable

• A track record in domestic or trade waste services
• Good presentation skills
