Structural Engineer – Central London

Location: Central London – near London Bridge

Working: Hybrid

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Role: Permanent

I’m currently working with a forward-thinking structural and civil engineering consultancy based near London Bridge, who are looking to add a Structural Engineer to their growing team.

This is a particularly interesting opportunity for an engineer who enjoys working on refurbishment, retrofit and complex existing structures , rather than purely repetitive new-build schemes.

The role

You’ll be involved in the design and delivery of a varied portfolio of structural projects, with a strong focus on:

  • Refurbishment and retrofit
  • Alterations to existing structures
  • Structural assessments and investigations
  • Cut-and-carve projects
  • Residential and commercial developments
  • Extensions and change-of-use projects
  • New-build projects where appropriate
  • Working closely with architects, contractors, developers and other consultants
  • Taking projects from concept through to detailed design and delivery

There will be plenty of opportunity to get involved technically, take ownership of projects and develop your client-facing skills as you progress.

What they’re looking for

  • Degree qualified Structural Engineer
  • Consultancy experience
  • Experience working on refurbishment, retrofit or existing structures
  • Good understanding of structural design principles
  • Experience with steel, concrete, masonry and timber structures
  • Strong communication and project management skills
  • Someone ambitious who wants to continue developing their career

The company

This is a modern, progressive consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering technically challenging work.

They have one of the nicest offices in the City , based close to London Bridge, and have created an environment that is genuinely collaborative rather than overly corporate.

They also put a strong emphasis on developing their engineers, with full support towards IStructE Chartership , alongside mentoring, technical development and opportunities to take on greater responsibility.

Hybrid working is also available, offering flexibility without losing the benefits of being part of a strong engineering team.

If you're a Structural Engineer in London who enjoys refurbishment and retrofit work and wants to join a company that genuinely invests in its people, I'd be happy to have a confidential chat.
