Band 8c Consultant Clinical Psychologist/Neuropsychologist

Overview

In this role you will lead and develop Later Life Psychology Services within Wiltshire, delivering high-quality, evidence-based care for older adults. You will provide strategic and professional leadership while maintaining a specialist clinical caseload and supervising psychology staff. You will offer expert MDT consultation and guide service development to align with NHS plans. The role blends senior leadership with hands-on clinical work, research, and workforce development in a supportive, innovation-friendly environment.

Responsibilities

• Shape and lead delivery of high-quality psychological care for older adults
• Manage and supervise psychology staff and provide specialist supervision
• Maintain a highly specialist clinical caseload with complex neuropsychological assessment and intervention
• Lead service development initiatives aligned with NHS Long Term Plan and Community Mental Health Framework
• Drive service improvement, quality assurance, and clinical governance
• Lead and support research, service evaluation, and audit activities
• Contribute to workforce development through teaching and training of staff and trainees
• Provide expert consultation to multidisciplinary teams, service users, carers, and partner organisations

Key requirements

• Clinical Psychology qualification or doctoral equivalent and HCPC registration
• Advanced specialist qualification in neuropsychology
• Minimum 6 years post-qualification experience
• Experience in neuropsychological testing and psychometrics for older adults
• Extensive knowledge of assessment, formulation, and therapeutic interventions for the client group
• Supervision experience with Trainee Clinical Psychologists and others
• Experience in teaching/training psychologists and other professionals
• R&D and clinical audit experience
• Desirable: service development/project work
• Desirable: data analysis using spreadsheets and advanced data analysis tools
