Design Manager/Senior Design Engineer

Overview

In this role you will lead a small design team to deliver end-to-end machinery designs for bespoke production equipment. You will work hands-on with the team to produce high-quality concepts and final designs, while ensuring delivery on time and within budget. You will partner with manufacturing, sales and projects to meet customer needs, and mentor engineers to drive professional growth. This is a hands-on leadership role in a growing engineering business with a strong design-focused culture.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 5 design engineers (mechanical and electrical)
• Oversee the design process from concept to completion
• Hands-on involvement in design production
• Manage workload to meet timelines and budgets
• Ensure designs meet customer needs through cross-department collaboration
• Mentor and coach team members for professional growth

Key requirements

• At least 5 years of machinery design experience
• Proficient in SolidWorks and/or Autodesk Inventor
• Excellent design calculation skills
• Strong leadership and team management abilities
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
