We are seeking a CAD Designer to produce and manage detailed design drawings and models using SolidWorks, taking ownership of design tasks from concept through to manufacture-ready documentation. This role sits between drafting support and full design engineering, with scope to work more independently and contribute design input, but without commercial or client-facing responsibilities.
Responsibilities of a CAD Designer
Develop detailed design drawings, models, and specifications for products and tooling
Create and modify 2D and 3D models for structures, components, and systems
Manage drawing catalogues and revisions, ensuring accessibility to engineering and other teams
Work closely with engineers to capture tooling and manufacturing requirements
Create and maintain plant/facility layout drawings
Review and modify designs to meet quality standards and specifications
Identify and flag design improvements or issues to senior engineering staff
Prepare documentation for project and design reviews
Provide technical input on drawings when queried by internal teams
Qualifications of a CAD Designer
Proven proficiency in SolidWorks (or similar with a willingness to learn) and strong CAD skills
Solid understanding of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing techniques
Experience producing manufacture-ready documentation, not just conceptual drawings
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in design work
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
Some prior industry experience preferred (but less than required for a full Design Engineer)
