Senior Software Engineer - Global KYC and Onboarding

Overview

In this role you will own large-scale backend projects within Wise's Global KYC and Onboarding squad, shaping a configurable, compliant verification platform. You will drive the technical roadmap, build robust microservices, and ensure reliability and security across systems that protect customers and enable global growth. You’ll collaborate across product, design, and compliance teams to improve the verification experience and operational efficiency. This is a mission-driven opportunity to reduce friction for customers while advancing Wise’s fintech infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical roadmap for your domain, addressing debt, reliability, scalability, and security
• Design and implement robust backend systems with clean APIs to hide internal complexity
• Drive integration with risk and mitigation systems to ensure regulatory compliance
• Identify and solve impactful problems within your team and across teams
• Lead the delivery of large-scale, complex projects and anticipate blockers
• Maintain and evolve data-heavy systems with strong data lifecycle management

Key requirements

• 4+ years of experience with any programming language
• experience with asynchronous message queues (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ)
