Responsibilities
Define and drive the long-term architectural vision for high-availability, low-latency cloud platforms
Lead multi-quarter modernization of foundational services into containerized cloud environments
Direct technical alignment and distributed architecture bridging Bitstamp and Robinhood infrastructures
Reduce operational toil and technical debt with self-healing systems and automation
Take end-to-end ownership of ambiguous, high-impact initiatives
Mentor senior engineers and establish engineering best practices
Act as senior escalation point for incidents and lead post-mortems to ensure platform integrity
Key requirements
8+ years in backend and distributed systems engineering with staff-level or technical leadership experience
Deep expertise in containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and AWS services (EC2, ECS/EKS, Aurora, DynamoDB)
Strong understanding of high-concurrency, low-latency architectures and event-driven systems
Proven ability to take problems from inception to production with measurable business impact
Excellent cross-functional communication to align stakeholders across geographies
Pragmatic, systems-thinking approach balancing architecture with 24/7 operational realities
