Specialist Pharmacist - Medication Safety & Governance

Overview

In this role you will support the Medication Safety and Governance leadership to enhance medicines safety across the Trust. You will collaborate with the wider patient safety and pharmacy teams to drive governance, audits, and quality improvement. You will contribute to the Medicines Safety Committee and PSIRF actions, shaping safe, evidence-based medicines use in a large NHS Trust. Responsibilities

• Support the Principal Pharmacist in improving incident reporting and learning for medicines safety
• Coordinate and audit actions to ensure Care Quality Commission criteria compliance
• Support governance, risk management and audit within medicines management
• Plan, develop, coordinate and audit medicines safety initiatives across the Trust
• Participate in Pharmacy Clinical Governance Meetings and incident review forums
• Provide input on PSIRF actions and integrate plans into the Quality Management System
• Support the Medicines Safety Committee and report subgroup outputs
• Deliver Medicines Safety communications and contribute to PSIRF agenda workstreams

Key requirements

• Pharmacy degree (Masters level)
• Registration as a pharmacist with the GPhC
• Post graduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent

• Organised and capable of managing work programmes
• Influence and negotiate with other professionals
• Strong report writing and communication
• Validated expertise in hospital pharmacy
• Audit/Project experience
• Policy and service development
