HR Advisor (Employment Strategy)

Overview

In this role you contribute to Employment Strategy within a small, supportive team. You will support trade union engagement, policy development, and employer responsibilities in pension schemes, while broadening expertise across specialist HR areas. You engage with stakeholders to implement pay awards, advise on terms and conditions, and shape employment guidance. This is an opportunity to develop strategic HR capabilities in a public-sector context and make a meaningful impact on people management across the council.

Responsibilities

• Support trade union consultation and negotiation
• Implement pay awards and pay framework changes
• Develop employment policies and guidance
• Advise on terms and conditions of employment
• Support employer functions regarding local authority pension schemes
• Contribute to job evaluation processes
• Provide guidance on employee benefits and related policies
• Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to deliver Employment Strategy activities

Key requirements

• Relevant HR experience
• Understanding of employment law and employee relations
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to build positive working relationships and influence stakeholders
• CIPD study or membership is desirable but not essential
