Mechanical Design Engineer (Structures)

Overview

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will drive the design and development of structural and rotating components for gas turbine and aerospace programs. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to capture requirements, ensure standards compliance, and progress NPI initiatives. You’ll develop tooling, perform material selection, and validate designs through analysis and documentation. Responsibilities

• execute design and development projects while ensuring industry standards compliance
• collaborate with cross-functional teams for requirements capture and delivery
• contribute to gas turbine NPI programs and innovative design solutions
• design and develop structural and/or rotating parts; develop tooling and test hardware
• select materials and perform 3D modeling and drafting
• define interface controls, stack-ups, layouts, and perform clash/tolerance checks
• apply GD&T, manufacturability considerations, and DFMA principles
• interpret stress/strength analyses, review design definition reports
• work with vendors during manufacturing and delivery, including non-conformance management
• communicate progress and present at customer review meetings

Key requirements

• degree or equivalent in engineering (aerospace, aeronautical, mechanical advantageous)
• experience in design and development of structural and/or rotating parts
• familiarity with gas turbine and aerospace standards
• 3D CAD modeling and drafting
• interfacing control documentation and tolerance analysis
• GD&T knowledge and manufacturing/process selection
• design for manufacture and assembly
• ability to interpret stress/strength reports
• vendor interaction during manufacturing and delivery
