Construction Solicitor – Contentious

Overview

In this role you support a high-end construction disputes practice within an international dispute resolution environment. You will handle complex matters for developers, contractors and public sector bodies, spanning litigation, arbitration and procurement challenges. You contribute to risk assessment, advisory work on safety and regulatory issues, and complex disputes across UK and international contexts. The opportunity combines technical construction expertise with client-facing, cross-border advisory work in a renowned firm setting.

Responsibilities

• Advise on safety issues, potential liabilities and defend claims for major developers and contractors
• Pursue recovery against consultants, designers, and architects
• Manage highly complex disputes including commercial litigation, development disputes, procurement challenges and some Judicial Reviews
• Counsel clients on PFI/PPP and procurement disputes involving defects and facilities management
• Provide guidance on disputes arising from engineering design issues, professional negligence, and equipment performance
• Advise clients on mitigating risk related to building safety legislation and related fund decisions

Key requirements

• Approximately 4 years PQE (mid-level)
• NI qualified; dual qualification (ROI or England & Wales) valuable but not essential
• Background in UK and international construction disputes
• Strong attention to detail, excellent technical ability, client care and commercial awareness
• Experience gained at a reputable firm is advantageous
