Senior Backend Engineer I - Account Insights

Overview

In this role you will help build and operate the Account Insights backend, turning transaction data into actionable insights for customers. You’ll work within a cross-functional team to shape the roadmap and deliver large, end-to-end backend projects that are reliable, scalable, and secure. You will drive incident response and contribute to high-quality tests and documentation, while mentoring peers. Responsibilities

• Own and build system components for customer-facing insights features
• Shape roadmaps and deliver large projects end-to-end
• Drive incident response and define short/long term mitigations
• Improve testing, documentation, and code quality; review code
• Mentor and coach engineers and contribute to broader engineering forums

Key requirements

• Owned a large backend project end-to-end with accountability for reliability, availability, and security
• Deep backend fundamentals with proficiency in Java/Spring Boot
• Strong understanding of distributed-systems concepts (asynchronous communication, event streaming)
• Well-tested, scalable design systems and long-term maintainability
• Mentored/coached engineers and fostered collaboration and feedback culture
• Hands-on experience with Kafka, stream processing, or high-throughput low-latency services
