Fintech Card Payments Manager

Overview

In this role you will own the end-to-end payment card processing environment across two brands and ~800 locations, ensuring high availability, resilience, performance and security. You will lead a small technical team, manage key vendor relationships and drive strategic payment initiatives. You will serve as the SME for payment technologies and fintech solutions, delivering secure and compliant services with commercial impact. This role offers the chance to shape payment experiences and technology at scale.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end payment card processing environment across two brands and ~800 locations
• Ensure high availability, resilience, performance, and security of payment services
• Manage payment acceptance technologies (terminals, switching, gateways, acquiring integrations, loyalty integrations, mobile apps)
• Oversee third-party relationships for network services, terminal provision, switching, service desk
• Define and monitor SLAs, KPIs, and contractual obligations; lead supplier performance reviews
• Provide third-line technical support and act as escalation point for complex incidents
• Maintain operational procedures, documentation, and support models
• Ensure PCI DSS and P2PE compliance
• Lead payment-related projects and coordinate stakeholders to deliver outcomes
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications and design solutions
• Own two customer-facing mobile applications and two loyalty platforms from a payments/tech perspective
• Drive security enhancements and manage P2PE implementation across estate

Key requirements

• Significant experience managing enterprise-scale payment processing environments
• Strong understanding of card payment ecosystems (acquirers, gateways, card schemes, switching, POS/terminals)
• Experience managing third-party service providers and technology vendors
• Proven leadership experience managing technical teams
• Success delivering technology and business change projects
• Experience translating business requirements into technical solutions
• Experience managing mobile applications and customer-facing digital platforms
• Strong incident management and problem-solving capabilities
• Experience operating within PCI DSS-regulated environments
