Director, Artificial Intelligence Risk Management

Overview

In this role, you build and lead the AI risk oversight function to govern enterprise AI adoption in a highly regulated financial environment. You will partner with senior technology and business leaders to shape risk governance, controls, and issue management across the AI lifecycle. You translate evolving AI technology, regulation, and threat intelligence into a proportionate risk program. You drive credible challenge, reporting, and adoption of responsible AI aligned with risk principles. This is a chance to influence strategic AI use while upholding strong risk discipline.

Responsibilities

• Build and sustain the AI Risk team and operating model as AI adoption evolves
• Provide strategic second line of defense advice and credible challenge to senior management
• Establish and evolve an enterprise AI Risk framework with risk principles, governance, and controls
• Oversee risk identification, assessment, measurement, monitoring, governance, and issue management across the lifecycle
• Challenge AI adoption decisions and control approaches when risk factors warrant
• Coordinate risk oversight with Risk & Compliance and other control functions for transversal AI risk
• Monitor changes in AI tech, regulation, and threat landscape and adjust the AI Risk program accordingly
• Provide clear reporting and risk insights to senior leadership and governance forums
• Promote responsible AI adoption by balancing innovation with risk principles

Key requirements

• 10+ years in risk management, technology risk, cyber risk, data risk, model risk, or AI risk in a regulated financial institution
• Strong subject matter expertise in AI risk and practical knowledge of risks and controls for enterprise AI
• Proven ability to implement or enhance a risk program across identification, assessment, measurement, monitoring, governance, and issues
• Ability to advise, influence, and credibly challenge senior technology and business leaders
• Strong judgment and strategic thinking to set proportionate requirements in a dynamic environment
• Experience working across Risk & Compliance and partnering with first and second line stakeholders
• Excellent written and verbal communication translating complex AI and risk topics into clear messages
