Global IT Software Engineer Senior Director & Tech Area Lead - Legal

Overview

In this role you drive the technical foundation of BCG’s Legal function, shaping architecture and standards across contract lifecycle, conflicts, and knowledge management. You will bridge legal strategy with engineering execution, coordinating across platforms, teams, and vendors. You’ll lead with a focus on agentic AI, data, and automation to reduce risk and increase capacity at scale. Responsibilities

• Define and govern the legal technology architecture and delivery standards across the portfolio
• Lead and mentor technology specialists and coordinate across vendors and internal stakeholders
• Oversee platform selection, SDLC practices, and governance to align with enterprise architecture
• Drive cross-functional collaboration between Legal, Tech, Data, Risk, and Compliance
• Monitor trends in legal tech and AI to identify opportunities and ensure program outcomes
• Ensure alignment of legal technology initiatives with risk, compliance, and commercial priorities
• Escalate and resolve cross-team dependencies and issues to maintain progress
• Resource planning and talent development to sustain long-term capability growth

Key requirements

• 12+ years of senior technical leadership in complex, matrixed organizations
• Proven track record delivering complex Legal / Risk / KYC technology products in professional services or regulated environments
• Experience leading agentic AI and LLM-based systems in production, including multi-agent orchestration and governance
• Strong knowledge of contract lifecycle management, conflicts clearing, matter management, and knowledge management platforms
• Ability to translate business priorities into integrated technology programs with vendor and platform alignment
• Experience with cloud, serverless technologies, and modern development practices; agile/servant leadership
• Excellent communication with senior leadership and cross-functional teams
