Overview

In this role you will act as the technical authority for GSM-R and FRMCS onboard cab radio systems, ensuring safety and interoperability. You will lead end-to-end certification with NoBo/ApBo and manage regulatory compliance across UK and EU standards. You’ll bridge certification with product engineering, supporting roadmaps and customer-facing queries. This position combines high-level certification leadership with hands-on product engineering, in a dynamic rail technology environment.

Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end certification with Notified Bodies (NoBo) and Approval Bodies (ApBo) for GSM-R and FRMCS products
Develop and maintain comprehensive compliance documentation and manage production audits
Monitor regulatory changes and participate in UK/EU working groups to influence FRMCS standards
Provide technical support to Sales/Bid teams with compliant solutions and statements of compliance
Guide Hardware, Software Development, and Production teams to ensure a unified compliance approach
Contribute to product engineering activities, including documentation, configuration management, and roadmap input

Key requirements

Experience with product approvals/certifications and product engineering lifecycle
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Visio
Strong problem-solving, verbal and written communication skills for technical documentation
Knowledge of GSM, 3G/4G/5G, IoT, hardware or software engineering is useful but not essential
Adaptable, collaborative, and capable of working across global teams and travel
Willingness to travel nationally and internationally
