In this LiveOps Engineer role, you will operate and monitor Civica’s production and cloud environments to keep services healthy and reliable. You will collaborate with SRE, Platform, and Development teams to improve automation, observability, and incident response. You’ll participate in on-call rotations, handle production alerts, and drive continuous improvement of monitoring, deployments, and RCA processes. You help scale and stabilize Civica’s cloud services, contributing to a trustworthy citizen-focused platform. This is a hands-on role at the frontline of delivering robust public sector software with real impact.

Responsibilities
Operate live environments using observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus, DataDog, Azure Monitor) and coordinate incident resolution with SRE/Platform teams
Automate environment builds, deployments, and daily ops using Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, or Bash to boost speed, consistency, and resilience
Maintain and scale cloud/infrastructure across Azure, AWS, and VMware; manage containerised workloads (Docker, Kubernetes) and improve performance
Contribute to continuous improvement through RCA, alerting thresholds tuning, deployment process refinements, and monitoring coverage enhancements
Collaborate across teams to maintain runbooks and operational standards; document practices for Civica’s cloud services
Participate in on-call rotation and respond to production alerts to uphold reliability and customer experience
Key requirements
Experience operating production systems in cloud or hybrid environments (Azure, AWS, or similar)
Familiarity with Kubernetes, containerisation, and tools like Helm and ingress controllers
Basic networking and infrastructure understanding (DNS, load balancing, VPNs, firewalls) and troubleshooting (pcap)
Hands-on scripting/automation experience (PowerShell, Bash, or Go/Python)
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and Git workflow (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins)
Experience with monitoring/alerting tools (Prometheus, Grafana, DataDog, Elastic, Azure Monitor)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; calm under incident pressure
Collaborative communicator in cross-functional, fast-paced settings
