Mechanical CAD Engineer

Overview

In this role, you will deliver CAD models, P&IDs and integrated layouts for a Small Modular Reactor project within the Fusion and Modular Nuclear unit. You will work closely with design engineers and the CAD/BIM team to translate concepts into precise drawings and data. You help maintain CAD standards, support data management, and ensure quality through peer reviews. The position offers hands-on design impact, training, and opportunities to advance in a safety‑critical, high‑security domain.

Responsibilities

• Develop integrated layout solutions from concept to construction based on design specs
• Create component CAD models and definitions in line with standards
• Produce 2D process, instrumentation and ventilation diagrams
• Assist product configuration and data management activities
• Ensure quality via peer reviews of models and definitions
• Set up and maintain CAD tools, templates, standards, QA processes and training materials
• Provide CAD expertise, training and mentorship to CAD/BIM team and junior staff

Key requirements

• Experienced Mechanical CAD Engineer or similar role
• Collaborative team player with ability to transform concepts into working designs
• Proficient in 2D CAD systems (AutoCAD) for precise drawings
• Skilled in 3D CAD/BIM systems (Revit, Inventor, SolidWorks, Solid Edge, Siemens NX, PDMS, AutoCAD Plant 3D or similar)
• Professionally qualified in an engineering-related field
• SC Clearance or capability to obtain it for high-security projects
