Overview

As Senior GenAI Engineer, you will own end-to-end AI features that power Motorway’s buyer-seller experience. You’ll take ambiguous problems from prototype to production, shaping retrieval, prompting, evaluation, and guardrails to deliver measurable value. You’ll work across LLM-powered tooling and data systems to build reliable, observable solutions used by thousands of dealers and buyers. This role offers impact at scale in a fast-growth, AI-driven marketplace. You’ll collaborate closely with product managers and across data teams to drive meaningful outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Own AI features from problem framing to production-ready systems
• Build retrieval and data foundations with emphasis on retrieval quality
• Design evaluation, monitoring, and safety measures for reliable features
• Develop AI applications using LLMs, orchestration, APIs and data systems
• Make model-cost and latency decisions and document reasoning
• Prototype rapidly, identify reusable patterns, and harden them for reuse
• Raise quality through code reviews and design feedback
• Communicate technical decisions to product managers and stakeholders
• Represent the solution’s business impact through clear outcomes
• Ensure robust production practices (testing, CI/CD, observability, MLOps)

Key requirements

• Shipped AI/ML systems with real user impact
• Strong Python and SQL, data-centric work
• Solid software engineering craft: testing, error handling, CI/CD, observability, MLOps
• Hands-on across GenAI stack: LLM APIs, retrieval, vector stores, tool-using agents
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS and GCP)
• Ability to reason about model failures, hallucination, and prompt injection
• Judgment on when to use models vs simpler solutions
• Collaborative and constructive reviewer mindset
• Ownership of what you ship and how it behaves
